Don't Politicize Family or Huguan Siou Institution For Personal Gain

KOTA KINABALU:   “Pairin should contest as a gentleman and as a mature politician instead of politicizing family relationship” said STAR Sabah Chief, Datuk Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan in response to Pairin’s statement that Jeffrey should not contest against him in Keningau.

Jeffrey said “there is nothing personal in this election.  I am contending against the BarisanNasional candidate who happens to be my brother.   That’s all”.

Wedding photo 'stolen' for BN man's poster

This image was shared more than 5,000 time since Monday.
Most of you would be over the moon if your best work got picked out for the whole world to see.

But not so in the case of freelance photographer Nasrul Effendy, who woke up one day to find out that a wedding photo he once took was being used on a Barisan Nasional (BN) campaign banner in Putrajaya.

The portrait of a Malay couple taken by Nasrul on their wedding day in May, 2007 was used without his permission to ‘augment’ the campaign banner of BN's Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor in Putrajaya on Sunday.

The banner showed an image of Tengku Adnan along with two photos: one of the couple and another of an unsmiling single man, accompanied by the words “Bantuan Bujang 1Malaysia’ and “Bersyukurlah kepada BN” (Be grateful to BN).

Tawau favours PKR

Local parties STAR and SAPP are insignificant,
says the local Chinese community.
TAWAU: Sabah caretaker Chief Minister Musa Aman’s bravado that Barisan Nasional will achieve a two-thirds majority in the state is getting the sniggers.
“He’s talking rubbish..,” said one businessman here alluding to a front-paged report yesterday which blared “BN will form the new govt – Musa”.
In the report Musa said: “I’ve gone all over Sabah… to Keningau, Tenom, Siptang, Beaufort, Sandakan, Beluran and many, many more. I could feel the people’s warmth, cheerful reception. Insyallah, we will win and form the government again.”
He was speaking at a gathering with the Chinese community here.

Sabah PKR chief Ahmad Thamrin Jaini told a press conference here today that the group had prepared a list of candidates after gathering feedback from the ground.
PKR chief Anwar Ibrahim had endorsed the list, he said.

SAPP unveils candidates list

KOTA KINABALU, April 17, 2013: Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) president Datuk Yong Teck Lee delivered an important message to the people that under the Constitution of Sabah, only a political party with a majority of seats in the Sabah Legislative Assembly shall form the Sabah Government. Unregistered parties and unregistered coalition of parties and NGOs are not qualified under the law to be elected as governments.

Fulfilling our struggle for autonomy, SAPP will contest a majority of State seats so that the Sabah government will be elected by the people of Sabah and answerable only to the people of Sabah.

Anwar plays political poker in Sabah

Sabah Pakatan Rakyat is yet to consolidate its list of
candidates as it toys with STAR and SAPP.
KUALA LUMPUR: With nominations just days away, speculations are rife that Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim is engaging Jeffrey Kitingan’s State Reform Party (STAR) in a 11th hour bid to find a solution to what promises to be a crippling election for Pakatan Rakyat if it remains adamant and uncompromising on Sabah seats.

Nomination is set for April 20 and by tomorrow all state Barisan Nasional component parties would have announced their list of candidates.

GE13: Ong Tee Keat may stand as Independent candidate in Pandan

Former MCA President, Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat
KUALA LUMPUR, April 16 — Will former MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat contest the Pandan Parliamentary seat as an Independent candidate?
“Just wait for nomination day,” Ong was quoted as saying by Chinese daily Nanyang Siang Pau today.
MCA yesterday named Garry Lim Chin Yee, 39, the division’s legal advisor to step into the fray against PKR’s strategic director, Rafizi Ramli, in the May 5 polls in the Malay-dominated area.
Pandan Wanita MCA chief Cindy Leong Siew Kam, who had known Ong for over 20 years, said it was unlike Ong to end his political career without a fight, and and she would not be surprised if he stood as an independent.

PBS retains incumbents

The selection of PBS candidates for the 13th general election
left observers surprised and supporters disappointed.
By Luke Rintod of FMT
PENAMPANG: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), Umno’s staunchest local ally, will field all its incumbents in the May 5 general election much to the disappointment of its supporters and political observers.

The party has three MPs and 12 assemblymen.

The only new faces on the list are former school principal Mary Yap who will contest in Tawau and Fung Fen Lui who is slotted for the Tanjung state seat.

I am still young and capable: Pairin, 73, to contest two seats again

PENAMPANG: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) president Joseph Pairin Kitingan said he would defend his Keningau parliamentary and Tambunan state seats in the 13th general election.
The Sabah Deputy Chief Minister who had been politically active since 1975 described his bids as his last battle to retain both constituencies for the Barisan Nasional in the interest of the people.
On the party’s other candidates, he indicated that there would be new faces in the line-up.

Opposition ‘spoilers’ giving Sabah BN quiet wins

By Luke Rintod of FMT
STAR and SAPP have reminded Sabah DAP and Sabahans that
voting for Pakatan would be a case of jumping from the
frying pan into fire situation.
KOTA KINABALU : Opposition parties DAP, SAPP and STAR have a common enemy in Barisan Nasional. Yet they seem unable to hold it together, constantly kniving each other instead of plotting against their enemy.
This in itself is intriguing and is telling of Sabah’s layered opposition politics which runs deep on distrust.
Yesterday, DAP’s sole parliamentarian Hiew King Chew, accused both State Reform Party (STAR) and Sabah Progressive Peoples Party (SAPP) of being “useless” parties that cannot do anything.
“It is a waste to vote STAR or SAPP,” he had said in statement that lumped the two parties as “spoilers” in the 13th general election.

Mere ‘fraud’ not consideration in 13th GE

By Joe Fernandez

Malaysians by and large worry that “fraudulent practices” by way of the electoral rolls and at the ballot box will cheat them out of the Government they want in Putrajaya and in the states. This should not be read as having a Pakatan Rakyat (PR) Government in the Federal Administrative Centre instead of one formed by the Barisan Nasional (BN).

Fraud can work both ways although the outgoing BN, revamped from the Alliance Party in the wake of the searing Sino-Malay race riots of 13 May, 1969, has ruled the country since 1957 when the British left Malaya.

SAPP: New Federal Government will have to honour full autonomy to Sabah or, risk losing her forever

Yong gestures to highlight the inclusion of
Sabah/North Borneo in the Philippines maps;
KOTA KINABALU, April 7, 2013: Whoever forms the next Federal government will have to honour, recognise and respect political autonomy to Sabah, as promised in the Malaysia Agreement, which is the basis for the formation of Malaysia in 1963.

Any attempt to depart from the “letter and spirit” of the formation of Malaysia will only fortify and intensify the Sulu/Philippines claim on Sabah.

By Ezra Haganez

Mojingol who is currently on a business trip in Taiwan, issued his statement to join PKR through his one-time secretary-general of PASOK, Kanul Gindol, in Kota Kinabalu today. Kanul was also a former PKR Sabah state liaison secretary.

Who will the Suluks support?

By Luke Rintod of FMT
Sabah Umno leaders do not believe that the Suluk voters in Sabah have deserted them following the Tanduo stand-off in Lahad Datu between Sulu terrorists and Malaysian armed forces.
“The majority of the Suluk voters are still with BN (Barisan Nasional),” said Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan, the principal political secretary to Sabah strongman, Musa Aman.
Many in the BN component parties like PBS, UPKO, LDP, PBRS and MCA share Nizam’s observation.
But deep within the Suluk community in Sabah, cracks are appearing.

Sabah State Legislative Assembly too dissolved today to pave for hot fight in 60 seats

Ezra Haganez
KOTA KINABALU: Sabah State Legislative Assembly also dissolved today, the same day that Parliament was dissolved.

This paved the way for earnest fight in the 60 state constituencies up for grab.

Sabah Chief Minister, Musa Aman, announced the dissolution at 4pm on April 3, four and half hours after Prime Minister, Najib Razak announced in live TV the dissolution of a matured Parliament.

Parliament dissolved paving way for 13th General Elections

PUTRAJAYA: Parliament has been dissolved today paving the way for what has been billed as the ‘Mother of All General Elections’.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced the dissolution of Parliament during a live telecast at 11.30am today. Exactly four years ago on April 3rd, 2009, he was sworn in as the Prime Minister after (now Tun) Ahmad Badawi bin Abdullah had resigned as Prime Minister following the poor performance during the 12th General Election in 2008.

In the live address over television, Najib said he had obtained the consent of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah, to dissolve the 12th Parliament.

SAPP: Conspiracy not to dissolve?

By Datuk Yong Teck Lee
To the gross disappointment of the people, both the BN and Pakatan governments have refused to dissolve their respective legislatures even though their political five-year term has expired on 8 March 2013. Granted that the law stipulates that the five year term commences on the date of the first sitting of the parliament or Legislative Assembly, politically, the five-year term has expired. The current situation in Malaysia, including in Sabah, whereby the Federal and State governments have stayed on beyond five years is unprecedented.
