Pembangkang tidak bersatu dalam isu TPPA?

Pada 26hb. Januari 2016, Parlimen Malaysia akan mengundi samada menyokong atau membantah  perjanjian TPPA. Sudah pasti bahawa BN akan menggunakan kuasa whip untuk mengarahkan ahli-ahlinya mengundi menyokong TPPA.  Parlimen seolah-olah suatu chop getah ‘rubber stamp’ dimana MP tidak akan mengundi mengikut isu tetapi hanyalah mengikut arahan parti masing-masing. 

PSM Statement 23 January 2015 - Now is not the best time to implement GST

Mr Prime Minister, you said yesterday that now is the best time to implement the GST because you claim that with the decrease of fuel prices, Malaysians will have more money in hand and have a higher purchasing power.

This is totally untrue. The decrease in fuel prices has not made prices of other goods go down. This has never happened before and you know very well that our enforcement agencies can never bring down prices of goods. You have also cut subsidies which mean you have left prices in the hands of the market. On ground 0, the rakyat is facing a massive increase in daily expenses and people and businesses just talk about further price increase after the GST. No amount of creative advertisement by the Government seems to dispel this fear.  

The " Unemployment Insurance Scheme" Betrayal !

The PSM is appalled to learn through a news item in page 6 of the STAR on 12^th June 2012  quoting Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek as stating that the Prime Minister has directed the Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri Dr Subramaniam to shelve the “Unemployment Insurance Scheme”. Apparently this directive was given during a National Economic Council meeting on 11^thJune 2012.

Several parties including the PSM, JERIT and the MTUC have been pushing for a Retrenchment Fund ever since the recession of 1997 – 1998. The government has  said that they are seriously studying the issue, and more than a year ago, the government claimed it had referred the matter to the ILO for advice. Now after dragging its feet on this matter for 15 years, the BN government has decided to shelve the idea!

Who Is Fickle-Minded ? Psm Slams Human Resource Minister

Once again it is clear that the Malaysian cabinet lacks a minister to adequately represent the interests of workers, and that the Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri Dr Subramaniam and his ministry are biased in favour of employers.

Dr Subramaniam’s statement yesterday echoing the claim of employers that a job-hopping young Malaysian workforce was what drove employers to hire foreign labour is disappointing. He took it upon himself to chide these young workers calling them fickle-minded for ‘liking’ to jump from one company to another and advised that they should be educated on the consequences.
