Pemimpin BN Sabah Perlu Berani – STAR

Appreciate My Statement in The Right Context – Dr. Jeffrey

Kota Kinabalu:“UPKO leaders ought to have appreciated my statement in the correct context instead of being ultra-defensive and rushing and resorting to personal attacks seemingly and as though to defend their guilt” said Datuk Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan, STAR Sabah Chief in response to the personal unjustifiable accusations over his query on Upko’s relevance in BN.

The people would still remember that it was Parti Demokratik Sabah (now Upko) that acted in cahoots with Umno/Kuala Lumpur’s divide and rule policy that resulted in dividing the unity of Sabahans and caused the break-up of Sabahan unity under PBS and the downfall of the democratically elected PBS government.

Is UPKO Still Relevant or Powerless? -STAR

Kota Kinabalu:    “While it is laudable for the Upko MP for Putatan to be brave enough to voice the lack of funding for Sabah, it shows that Upko is irrelevant and powerless in the BarisanNasional and incapable of safeguarding the interests of Sabah” said Datuk Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan, STAR Sabah Chief in response to the statement by Datuk Dr. Marcus Mojigoh recently thatSabah should be getting more funding from the Federal Government towards improving the electricity supply in the state and that the electricity tariffs were increased without consulting the elected representatives.

Pairin, Dompok, Kurup in rare show of unity

Against simmering anti-BN sentiments amongst the
Kadazan Dusun Murut communities, PBS, Upko
and PBRS leaders came together in the name of religion.
KOTA KINABALU: Three Kadazandusun Murut (KDM) leaders offered each other the hand of unity last night in a long awaited encounter, symbolising their resolve to help Barisan Nasional (BN) win the 13th general election.
Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) president Joseph Pairin Kitingan, United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation (UPKO) president Bernard Dompok, and Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) president Joseph Kurup shook hands at a ceremony to hand over RM4.5 million worth of goods to heads of churches in Sabah, here.
In what is seen as a show of solidarity, they are bent on working together to ensure victory for BN led by Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak.

‘Sabah Umno reps only servicing Muslims’

Disgruntled Sabah Upko members are fed up with Umno YBs
and want a special programme to re-educate them on
their responsibilities to the electorate.
LAHAD DATU: The strained relationship between two Barisan Nasional components here has emerged into the open over the preferential treatment given to Muslim Bumiputera at the expense of the non-Muslims.
The United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation (Upko) which is embarrassed that it has not been able to provide the same level of social assistance that Umno provides its supporters, this week accused the dominant BN party of granting assistance based on religious beliefs rather than on needs and creating a split where none existed before.

‘Can you expect thieves to arrest themselves?’

A Sabah-based activist has accused Upko of pussyfooting
around the illegal immigrant issue.
KOTA KINABALU: The author of a book ‘Lest We Forget’ that chronicled the ‘acquisition’ of Sabah by Umno-linked authorities, who re-engineered the demographics of the state, is surprised that local leaders are now downplaying the facts.
Expressing his concern, Dr Chong Eng Leong said he was worried that even a hardline local Barisan Nasional coalition component was backing away from the controversial issue after years of championing it.
Chong is particularly incensed that state assembly representative Donald Mojuntin, the son of the late Peter Mojuntin who is lionised as a defender of Sabah’s rights, was now choosing to limit the fallout from a widely acknowledged illegal act.

By Raymond Tombung of FMT
Potential defectors Wilfred Bumburing and Lajim Ukin are
'playing tarik tali' with the BN leadership in view of
the current political scenario in Sabah.
KOTA KINABALU: Plans to enable Upko deputy president Wilfred Mojilip Bumburing and Umno warlord Lajim Ukin to announce their exit from Barisan Nasional have been aborted.

Senior PKR leaders and the organising officials of the gatherings on July 15 in Beaufort (for Lajim) and in Tuaran (for Bumburing) have confirmed that the planned jump by Bumburing and Lajim has been “suddenly aborted, or postponed”.

The development has heightened curiosity amongst observers.

Senior PKR leaders, who are disheartened by the turn of events, were given varied reasons for the cancellation of Bumburing’s formal announcement to ditch BN.

announce their exit from their respective
parties on July 15?
By Joseph Bingkasan of FMT
KOTA KINABALU: National coalition MPs Wilfred Bumburing and Lajim Ukin are expected to announce their pullout from their respective parties during gatherings in Tuaran and Beaufort, respectively on June 15.

Although both leaders would be declaring that they are leaving the government coalition parties in the presence of Anwar, they are not expected to join either PKR or other opposition Pakatan Rakyat component members.

Upko leader threatens ‘unsupportive’ villagers

RANAU: A Sabah Barisan Nasional party has come under fire for blatantly linking government aid to political support in the remote interior of Sabah.

This time the United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation (Upko), of which Federal Minister Bernard Dompok  is president, has been roundly criticised for attempting to browbeat village folks into supporting the party and the BN or risk losing government assistance.

Upko’s state assemblyman for Paginatan, Dr Ewon Ebin, allegedly threatened villagers in remote Kg Wakaku that he would not be able to help them if they continued to support the opposition.

June 10 ‘victory’ for Lajim-Anwar?

By Luke Rintod of FMT
KOTA KINABALU: Lajim Ukin, the influential Umno warlord in the south-interior of Sabah, is said to be “definitely” ditching the party to join not the Sabah People’s Front (SPF) as rumoured, but PKR.

Reliable insiders claimed that the Umno supreme council member and MP for Beaufort is preparing for a June 10 exit and that Pakatan Rakyat coalition de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim himself would fly to Sabah to receive not only Lajim but also scores of other Sabah Umno and United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation leaders.

Upko to stay with BN for now

By Luke Rintod of FMT
While Upko president Bernard Dompok has said
that the party will remain with Sabah BN,
insiders are sceptical.
PENAMPANG: Upko, the largely Kadazandusun-based party in Sabah Barisan Nasional, is unlikely to leave the coalition “before the general election” despite the persistent rumblings of discontent within its rank and file over Umno’s shabby treatment of the party.

Party president Bernard Dompok, who is also a federal minister, had indicated so and has reportedly pacified his deputy Wilfred Bumburing who is said to be toying with “jumping ship”.

“PBS, Upko, PBRS – Are you Protecting Sabah’s Rights?

By Edward Linggu
“PBS, Upko, PBRS! Are you protecting Sabah’s Rights? replied Edward Linggu, Campaign Director of UBF in response to the press reports quoting Dompok, Mositun and Kurup on the launching of STAR Sabah.

Obviously, the people does not think so and rallying to support STAR Sabah as can be seen by the more than 60,000 supporters signing up in less than 3 weeks. Perhaps, PBRS may not even have the same number of committed members.

‘Cheated’ natives baying for blood

By Luke Rintod of FMT
Barisan Nasional partner in Sabah, Upko,
is in a spot over a land deal involving
one of their MPs.
KOTA KINABALU: Something is going on in the centre of Sabah that has got the communities residing there hot under the collar.

As is usually the case in this vast state, the matter comes down to land and who has the right to it.

The issue is threatening to deliver a black eye to a local Sabah Barisan Nasional party that has been trumpeting its determination to fight for the well-being of the native people and to champion their rights.
